The fixed screw and movable screws are formed, so that each of them causes a rotating difference. The movable screw moves forward when it rotates faster than the fixed screw and moves backward when it rotates slower. The movable screw repeats the forward and backward movements relative to the fixed screw between the vanes of the fixed screw.

To dehydrate sludge, it is important to continuously separate suspended solids in liquid as pellet solid matters with good dewaterability. A device for this purpose is built into this dehydrator. The sludge pelletized by the addition of a coagulant is over-compressed gradually by the double screw mechanisms and expelled as a cake from the outlet. The separated water is drained from the wedge wire screen on the outside of the screw.
