Silage feed for ruminant farming is widely used. Corn stalks and pastures, as well as some specific plants, are the main source of raw materials for silage. This paper takes corn stalk as the research object, and conducts an experimental study to control the moisture content of silage before fermentation.

    The moisture content of silage feed before fermentation is controlled between 60-75%, which is an ideal moisture content. In this state of water content, it is beneficial to the fermentation of microorganisms and the maintenance of nutrients in silage. At present, the screw press can achieve a throughput of 40m³ / h, and the moisture content can be controlled between 60-75.

    Corn stalks as raw materials for silage have different moisture content in raw materials at different harvest times, different regions, different years and specific natural rainfall conditions. Industrial production and utilization of silage feed, to overcome the changes in the moisture content of raw materials brought about by these changes, it is unscientific to adjust the moisture content of raw materials by drying and adding other materials with low moisture content. Drying is subject to site and climatic reasons, and the addition of other materials with low moisture content is also subject to raw material sources.

    It is a more scientific and easy-to-operate method to use mechanical methods to control the moisture content of silage raw materials. The screw press, as a physical and mechanical means of pressing and dewatering, has the advantages of low operating cost, large output, reliable operation, low maintenance cost, continuous operation, and low labor intensity. Moreover, the moisture control can be adjusted through mechanical parts to control the moisture content of the silage raw materials within an ideal range.
